fic - rent - collins - not with a bang
group-beta time!
Working on a fic for
rent_challenge. I don't know... if I like it.
It's about Collins. And... any constructive criticism would be helpful.
( this is the way the world ends... )

I've hit about 850 words and I want to get out at least another two hundred before I go to bed.
The first problem I've hit, though, is that I don't know if I want to have my main characters in eleventh or twelfth grade. If I make them seniors, I can waste at least 1000 words on "omg where can I go to college??!!!?!!11!", if not more. If I make them juniors, I can skip that whole process and devote more time to actual mystery stuff.
We will see what develops, I suppose. For now, I'm going to work on keeping my characters' names straight, considering I left the sheet with their last names/vitals at school...
Well, for those of you who don't have
pocky_slash friended, I've decided I'm going to participate in NaNoWriMo this year. That's National Novel Writing Month, for those of you who don't know. The concept is that one starts a novel on November 1 and has until November 30 to finish it. The goal is 50,000 words or more, approximately 175 pages.
I'm going to be using this journal to keep track of my NaNoWriMo stuff, and all NaNoWriMo posts will be public because there are a couple people who don't have this journal friended (and one person who doesn't have an LJ) who want to keep tabs on this, and
pocky_slash is far too busy to keep dutiful track of my progress.
So, I'm just announcing it officially here. As of right now, I'm working on a semi-murder mystery set in a private boarding school in the northeast. It's based on the journal snippit I posted a few weeks ago. Before I begin, I want to take a sort of poll:
Initally the idea was to write the whole story through the main character's journal entries. Now I'm not so sure. What are your thoughts? Would it be better/easier to do it in the third person with a journal entry opening each chapter, or just have the whole thing be in journal entries? Which would you be more likely to read and enjoy? Is all journal entries too gimick-y?
This is a little excerpt from Post Hoc. Before sixth year, the Blacks go on holiday, to a family reunion. Sirius elects to stay home and his parents encourage it, so he spends August with the Lupins. In this bit, Remus' mother recieved post with a late birthday present from her mother, a swing record. She and her husband have instilled their fondness of swing music into their son, and Remus struggles with his growing attraction to Sirius while trying to pass it on to the other boy, as well.
Not, you know, betaed or even re-read yet.
( in the mood )
Most of you have probably already read this, but this is probably one of my favourite fics that I've written. I was re-reading it today and decided to post it here, because I could XDD
It's a cross-over. RENT and HP (and you thought it couldn't be done!). Remus/Sirius; Mark/Roger.
